Steroid Reflection

Wikipedia states that steroids are an organic compound that has a particular arangement of cylcloalkane. There are many different kinds of steroids such as testosterone, estradiol, dietary cholesterol. You might be thinking that these things are already in your body but the NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse) says that when taking steroids you put and overload of these coupounds into your body which can have a negative impact on your body and mind. Given the obvious negative impacts on the body, one of the major mental ones is addiction. NIDA states that in animal research has concluded that animals will self-administer steroids when given the oppertunity.

  1. I think learning about steroids is very interesting as well. So many people have been known to do them and you think if it makes them play well, why is it wrong? Because it's an addiction and people with addictions are usually frowned upon as well.

  3. Thats very interesting, did you happen to find any more information on this topic? I think it would be interesting if you had some articles that were written or told about a first account situtaion of using or having used steroids at some time. It would defenitely provide a good angle to the whole topic. I understand where you are going with this topic, the only thing that I am wondering is if you are for or against the use of steroids in sports? If neither, what is your stand point of steroids in general? After re-reading it I am just not 100% sure of your stand point so far. Other than that I think it was a great start to an interesting topic!

  4. I have learned that taking steroids gives you an advantage over athletes that haven't taken them. Steroids are basicly a copy of testosterone which will give you the will and power to workout longer and harder building more muscle. I am opposed to useing steroids for athletic terms but I am for the use of steroids for cancer and the cure of gad illnesses.

  5. I agree with you on steroids not being good for athletics, but being okay for people who have illnesses. If it can help somebody and save there life, then there should be nothing wrong with it. Steroids are always given such a bad name because of how many athletes have used them. I'm interested to learn if there are any say success stories on steroids in athletics where it has helped someone and a good outcome has come out of it? Also what made steroids in athletes so popular in the first place?
